Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a woman in Medford last night.
Laura Couleas was driving a 1995 Honda eastbound on Horseblock Road on the overpass of Long Island Avenue when the Honda crossed into the westbound lane and struck a 2011 Mitsubishi Suburban heading westbound on Horseblock Road driven by Shelia Banos at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Couleas, 52, of Medford was transported by Medford Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where she was pronounced dead. Banos, 20, of Sanford, North Carolina was transported by Medford Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
