On 10/29/2018, at approximately 12:42 PM, Sonoma Police Deputies were dispatched to Friedman’s Home Improvement Store, located at 1360 Broadway, for the report of shoplifting. A store employee told the 9-1-1 call taker that a male subject ran out of the store carrying over $400.00 worth of tools he failed to pay for. The store employee provided a physical description of the suspect who he witnessed getting into the front passenger seat of a waiting silver Chevrolet sedan. The alert employee wrote down the license plate of the fleeing vehicle.
 
The Sonoma Police Deputy provided the information to our Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Detectives, whom within an hour discovered the unoccupied suspect vehicle parked in the parking lot of the K-Mart store, located at 261 N McDowell Blvd. Petaluma. Sheriff’s Office detectives, a Sonoma Police deputy and Sheriff’s Main office deputies surveilled the vehicle and observed two male subjects exit the K-mart store and get into the silver Chevrolet sedan. The subjects were detained. 
 
The witness from the Sonoma Friedman Home Improvement Store was driven to the scene and positively identified one of the male subjects as the one who they saw run out of the their store carrying boxes of unpaid merchandise.  
 
Deputies located Makita and Milwaukee tools within the suspect vehicle, which were determined to be stolen from the Sonoma Friedman’s Home Improvement Store. The recovered stolen merchandise was valued at approximately $865.00.
 
The suspects were identified as 34 year old Kasey Robert Crunk, from Windsor, and 28 year old Nicholas Alexander Barnes, a Healdsburg transient. Crunk and Barnes were booked into custody at the Sonoma County Jail on charges of shoplifting, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
