Deputies arrest the driver of a stolen vehicle following a pursuit and collision

INCIDENT: Felony Evading / Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
LOCATION: East 19th Street / Yates Avenue, San Bernardino
SUSPECT: Gerald Jr. Reyes, 28 year-old resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY:
On February 24, 2019 at approximately 9:31 pm, Deputy R. Alfaro observed a white Honda Civic hatchback traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of Yates Avenue / East 19th Street. Deputy Alfaro attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver, Gerald Reyes, failed to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, Reyes lost control of the Civic, left the roadway and collided with a chain link fence near Glascow Avenue and Fisher Street, in San Bernardino. Reyes was apprehended without further incident. An investigation revealed the Honda Civic was stolen earlier in the day out of San Bernardino.
Gerald Jr. Reyes was arrested for felony evading, possession of a stolen vehicle and was booked at Central Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of $125,000 bail.
