Deputies make arrest for mail theft in Santa Rosa

Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a 48-year-old Vallejo woman for stealing mail from mailboxes in southwest Santa Rosa. The call came in at about 4:00 AM yesterday morning that two people in a silver Volkswagon Beetle were seen stealing mail from mailboxes in the 200 block of Millbrae Ave. The witnesses began following the suspects who circled the area and at one point the driver let the passenger out of her car on Scenic Dr. near Arlington Ave.

The passenger was described as a black adult man wearing a white t-shirt and had a long ponytail. The driver then turned onto Arlington and started throwing mail out her window. She circled the block and as she arrived back on Scenic Ave., the witnesses were able to position their vehicles in front of and behind the silver Beetle, blocking her in and prevented her from leaving.

Deputies arrived on scene in the 800 block of Scenic Ave and contacted the suspect, Carmen Hill. Deputies determined that she and her accomplice left the Graton Casino just prior to this. She pulled over while the passenger got out of the car, went through and stole mail from four mailboxes in the 200-400 block of Millbrae Ave. Deputies found stolen mail in her car and picked up the stolen mail she had discarded on the side of the road.

Hill was arrested for felony theft with a prior and conspiracy. She has since been released on $20,000 bail. Deputies are still working to identify the man associated with this crime. If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Deputy Glosser at 707-565-2650.

Deputies have the four victims identified on Millbrae Ave and will be arranging the return of the stolen mail.
