LOCATION: Split Rock Ave/ Highway 62, Twentynine Palms

SUSPECTS: Martin Perez, 35 years old, a resident of 29 Palms / Marissa Trujillo, 27 years old, a resident of 29 Palms.

SUMMARY:
On March 18, 2019, deputies responded to the 73000 block of Twentynine Palms Highway for a report of a vehicle burglary. The suspect broke one of the vehicle’s windows and stole the victim’s purse. Approximately one hour after the victim called to file the initial report, the victim was alerted her credit card was denied for an attempted purchase at the STC Smoke Shop in Twentynine Palms. Deputies obtained video surveillance, which captured a male suspect break into the vehicle, and another video which showed a female accompanied by a male attempt to make the failed purchase with the stolen credit card. The male in the first video appeared to be the same person in the second video. On March 21, 2019, while on proactive patrol Deputy Robles observed Martin Perez and Marissa Trujillo in the area of Split Rock Avenue and Twentynine Palms Highway. Perez and Trujillo matched the descriptions of the suspects captured on the two videos. Robles contacted Perez and Trujillo to further the investigation.

During the contact Perez was taken into custody on suspicion of the original burglary and for conspiracy to commit a crime. When first contacted, Trujillo provided another person’s name to Robles in an attempt to conceal her true identity. Trujillo was taken into custody on suspicion of providing false identification and conspiracy to commit a crime. Both subjects were booked into the Morongo Basin Jail.

Booking Charges:
Perez – PC 459 / PC 182(a)(1) – Bail $25,000.00
