Palmdale Deputies responded to Sierra Highway just north of Avenue N, in the city of Palmdale, regarding a call of a collision on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at approximately 12:30 a.m.  During the investigation, deputies learned that one vehicle was traveling southbound on Sierra Highway north of Avenue N when that vehicle made a sudden lane change and struck a male black adult walking along the west shoulder of Sierra Highway. The male adult was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle involved fled the scene southbound on Sierra Highway immediately following the collision. Witnesses described the vehicle as an older dark sedan. Based on the preliminary investigation, the vehicle that struck the victim may have damage to the front right portion of the vehicle.
 
At this time, the suspect is still outstanding. 
 
There is no additional information, and the investigation is active and ongoing.
