Narrative:
On 03/17/2019, at approximately 4:18 a.m., patrol units from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a Domestic Disturbance in the 600 Block of Tara Street in Newbury Park.  Deputies learned that (S1) Diego Ambriz unlawfully entered the residence of the victim, his estranged spouse, and verbally confronted her.  He left the residence for a short time and then returned with (S2) Luis Ruelas.  Ambriz and Ruelas confronted the victim on the side of the house.  Ruelas had his face covered and brandished a metal bat in close proximity to the victim.  Ambriz flashed gang signs at the victim and then battered her.  Ambriz pulled out a knife with an exposed blade, held it close to the victim’s face, and told her that he was going to use the knife on her.  Ambriz and Ruelas fled the scene when the victim screamed and other family members arrived at the scene.

On 04/11/2019, members from the Thousand Oaks Investigations Bureau, Directed Enforcement Unit and Special Enforcement Unit conducted search warrant services at Ambriz’ residence and Ruelas’ residence and seized evidence related to the crimes.  Ambriz was arrested for 245(a)(1) PC (Assault with a Deadly Weapon), 273.5(a) PC (Corporal Injury to Spouse), 182(a)(1) PC (Conspiracy to Commit a Crime), and 186.22(a) PC (Street Terrorism).  Ruelas was arrested for 182(a)(1) PC (Conspiracy to Commit a Crime), 186.22(a) PC (Street Terrorism), and 417(a)(1) PC (Exhibit Deadly Weapon).  Both were booked at the East Valley Jail, with bail amounts of $100,000 each.
