Seventeen arrests are made during a Problem Oriented Policing Proactive Patrol operation in the Town of Yucca Valley

SUMMARY:
On Thursday, April 18th, and Friday, April 19th from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Detective Pennington and Deputy Stucki, from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Morongo Basin Station’s Problem Oriented Policing Team, conducted proactive patrol, in the town of Yucca Valley. Pennington and Stucki made 29 enforcement stops, which led to 17 arrests. The arrests varied from possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamines, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license, warrants, and municipal code violations. The warrants included assault, failure to appear, possession of a weapon, larceny, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under the influence. The municipal code violations included illegal camping, and trespassing in town parks, including the Yucca Valley Community Center, Paradise Park, and the Park and Ride, located at Highway 62 and Kickapoo Trail, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Problem Oriented Policing is a specialized position within the Town of Yucca Valley’s Police Department. Detective Emanuel Popa and Deputy Robert Stucki are currently assigned to this full-time position. The primary focus of “Problem Oriented Policing” is to provide solutions to law enforcement related issues that adversely affect the citizens who live, work and visit the town of Yucca Valley.
