Domestic violence is a growing epidemic. How can you help?

Domestic violence is an epidemic that affects people from all walks of life. No community, regardless of socioeconomic status, religion, race, educational background or nationality is immune from domestic violence.

In the United States, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men aged 18 and older, have been the victim of physical violence by a partner in their lifetime.

In the US, every 9 seconds, a woman is assaulted or beaten.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women - more than car accidents, robbery and rapes combined.

Studies suggest than up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually.

Every day, in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husband or boyfriend.

So what you can do to help?

If you know that domestic violence is actively occurring or witness it, call 9-1-1 immediately.

If a friend or loved one is a victim of domestic violence, assist them in reaching out to the numerous resources available in the Antelope Valley. Such as:
