Update to Sunday 4/28 Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

Update 4/29/19, release of Victim's Identity and Suspect Photo:

Fairfield Police responded to a two-vehicle collision in the intersection of Highway 12 and Beck Avenue on Sunday morning, April 28, just after 3 am.  Two vehicles, a Dodge Challenger and a Toyota Sienna, had collided in the intersection, injuring three people.  All three occupants of the Toyota were transported to a local hospital with major injuries.  One passenger, 85 year old Margaret Abudawood, died from her injuries after arriving at the hospital.  The driver of the Toyota, a 59 year old Fairfield resident, remains in critical condition at the hospital.  The driver’s wife, a 58 year old Fairfield woman, sustained major but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Dodge was 31 year old Vallejo resident Arnulfo Santos-Reyes.  The preliminary investigation indicated The Dodge was traveling westbound on Hwy 12 at freeway speeds.  The Toyota was making a left from eastbound Hwy 12 to Northbound Beck Ave.  All indicators show the Toyota had a green light and Santos-Reyes failed to stop for the red light.  Officers investigated further and found probable cause to believe Santos-Reyes was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.  Santos-Reyes was subsequently arrested and booked into Solano County Jail for Felony Driving Under the Influence and Vehicular Manslaughter.

This collision is being investigated by the Fairfield Police Traffic Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call (707) 428-7524.
