Kern County Sheriff's Office Arrests Murder Suspect

UPDATE: Edward Diaz was arrested Thursday, May 2 around 6pm on the 2000 block of Belle Terrace on a warrant for homicide.

On June 13, 2018, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding two deceased individuals found in a vineyard outside of Arvin. Deputies responded and located two deceased males with obvious trauma. Homicide Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. The victims were later identified as Samuel Atkinson and Vincent Valdez.

After a tremendous amount of investigation, two individuals responsible for the murders were identified. One is 45-year-old Louie Perez. The other is 29-year-old Edward Diaz of Bakersfield. Perez is currently in custody for three additional murders in Kern County. Diaz has not been located at this time.

Diaz is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’10” tall, weighing about 240 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He has two warrants for his arrest charging him with the two murders.
