Santa Maria Police make arrest in a stalking investigation.

Over the course of several days, Santa Maria Police Detectives have been conducting a stalking investigation. This led to the identification of the suspect, Thomas Simmons, a 31 year old resident of Arroyo Grande. On 5/3/19 SMPD Detectives enlisted the assistance of the Arroyo Grande Police Department, who stopped Simmons in his vehicle. SMPD Detectives took custody of Simmons. In his vehicle officers located an assault rifle with loaded high capacity magazines, a loaded firearm/handgun and more ammunition. During a subsequent search warrant at his residence, Simmons was found to be in possession of various other firearms and ammunition. Ultimately, Simmons was arrested and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for felony stalking and dissuading a witness.
