Three arrested in ongoing retail theft investigation

On April 9, 2019, employees of Victoria Secret reported a theft from their Solano Mall location.  The suspects, who were described as three black females, entered the store with empty shopping bags and began filling those bags with merchandise.  When confronted by store employees, and told to leave, the suspects refused and continued to take items from the displays.  It wasn’t until the three had stuffed their shopping bags with approximately $25,000 worth of merchandise that the three left the business.  A Fairfield Police Community Services Officer took the initial theft report.  CSO Robertson made contact with an Asset Protection Investigator for Victoria Secret and learned that these same females were suspects in a similar theft that had occurred in San Mateo.

Detective Reyna took over the investigation into the theft in Fairfield.  He quickly determined that these females were also suspected of several other thefts throughout Northern California including a February 2019 theft here in Fairfield.  Det. Reyna’s partner, Det. Clatterbuck, was working that investigation and had identified one of the suspects in his investigation as Angenique Kyer.  By partnering with detectives from numerous other jurisdictions Det. Reyna was able to connect these suspects to at least nine thefts between February and April 2019.  The other two suspects were identified as Akaila Elder and Shamajai Jack, all 18-years old and all from Fairfield.

On May 7, 2019, Napa police detectives contacted Det. Reyna and advised that they had Shamajai Jack and Akaila Elder in custody for a strong-arm robbery that had occurred at the Ulta Beauty in Napa at approximately 10:30 am.  That same afternoon a Fairfield Police officer located the third suspect, Angenique Kyer.  Kyer and a 15-year old female were taken into custody without incident.  The juvenile was later released to family members.

The suspects are accused of stealing approximately $1,200 from the Hollister store in Fairfield, over $30,000 worth of merchandise from Victoria Secret, and over $150,000 from Ulta Beauty.  This investigation is a great example of how agencies willing to work together and share information can stop a prolific retail theft ring.  Photos of the three adult suspects are below.
