On 05/04/19, Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail detectives were driving in the 1700 block of E. Daily Drive in the city of Camarillo. While driving, they observed Manuel Hill walking on the sidewalk. As detectives drove up to Hill to invoke his probation search terms, Hill immediately turned and ran away. Hill ignored all verbal commands to stop running.

As one of the detectives was running after Hill, he noticed a black handgun on the ground where Hill had just been running.  Detectives recovered the handgun as they continued to pursue Hill.   Detectives chased Hill for a short distance before catching up to him and placing him under arrest for PC 148 (a) (1) / Resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer. Detectives examined the handgun they located on the ground and confirmed it was a fully loaded semi-automatic and that it had been reported as stolen.

Based upon their observations and evidence gathered during the investigation, detectives believe Hill had been in possession of the stolen loaded handgun and charged him with  PC 25400 (a)(2) / Carrying  a concealed firearm upon a person and PC 25850 (a) / Carrying a loaded firearm, and PC 496 / Receiving stolen property.
