2121 Windy Hill Road wanted fugitive
At 5:23 AM the Atlanta Police Department (APD) fugitive unit notified us that they had tracked twenty-seven-year-old Maliek Dandridge to an apartment at 2121 Windy Hill Road. Dandridge has an outstanding felony warrant for aggravated battery. Marietta Officers arrived a few minutes later to assist APD with the apprehension.
Investigators from the APD fugitive unit made entry into the apartment the suspect was believed to be hiding in. While inside the apartment they discovered evidence of firearms and believed the suspect had entered the attic space directly above them. The Marietta Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team was called in to assist with the search and apprehension of Dandridge who was believed to be armed and dangerous.
Damage was located inside the attic space directly above the suspects apartment, leading investigators to believe Dandridge was attempting to flee from the building by exiting from a neighboring unit. Residents in neighboring units reported hearing noises coming from above their units further leading the investigators to believe Dandridge was still inside the building. The apartment building was evacuated and the multi-agency team established a perimeter, giving the MPD SWAT team time to arrive. At 7:48 AM the MPD SWAT team made entry into the 2300 building and began their search for Dandridge. The process of methodically checking inside each apartment inside building 2300, as well as the corresponding attic spaces, took approximately four hours. At 11:47 AM MPD SWAT finished clearing the building and announced that Dandridge was not inside.
We appreciate the public’s patience during this incident. The goal of this multi-agency operation was to take a wanted fugitive into custody while ensuring everyone’s safety.
