In July 2018, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office was awarded a $100,000.00 grant from the California Alcoholic Beverage Control for fiscal year 2018-2019. The grant money is used to conduct operations at alcohol licensed establishments. These operations consist of minor decoys, undercover stings and any other alcohol related crimes.
On May 15, 2019, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office conducted Minor Decoy operations in the Bakersfield, area. These operations were conducted at Alcoholic Beverage Control licensed establishments. The operation targeted subjects willing to purchase alcoholic beverages to minors. Two arrests were made for subjects furnishing alcoholic beverages to a minor decoy.
SAMUEL BOOTH (21) from Flagstaff, Arizona, and ALDO IBARRA (28) from Terra Bella, California, were arrested for violating BP 25658(a), Furnishing alcohol to minor. IBARA and BOOTH were released with citations.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the public that underage drinking is illegal and very dangerous. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is working in partnership with the Alcoholic Beverage Control to combat the illegal selling and consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors.
