A 17-year-old male is arrested for theft of a golf cart

SUSPECT(S): 17-year-old male juvenile
VICTIM: Ashwood Golf Course, Apple Valley
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, May 16, 2019, at approximately 6:55 pm, deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a juvenile who fled from a local group home. Staff from the group home followed the juvenile and saw him run onto Ashwood Golf Course. The juvenile took a golf cart from the clubhouse, driving it on several city streets through traffic and at times traveling into oncoming traffic.
Apple Valley deputies responded to the call and located the juvenile in the area of Deep Creek Road and Ocotillo Way. The juvenile was arrested, and the golf cart was returned to the golf course. No serious accidents occurred during this incident and no one was injured. The suspect was booked at High Desert Detention Center for grand theft auto.
