In recent weeks, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to numerous vehicle break-ins in Northern Beaufort County: Lady's Island, Shell Point, St. Helena Island and Burton. And although these incidents are referred to as break-ins, all of the vehicles in this recent string of incidents were left unlocked and there were no forcible entries.   
 
Please help limit the opportunities of would-be thieves by locking your vehicles and removing any items of value. In addition, and under no circumstances, should firearms be stored inside of a vehicle, as stolen firearms will often be used in violent crimes.
