A second sex registrant operation was conducted between April 26th and May 18th; 20 persons were arrested

LOCATION:              In the following cities: Barstow, Chino Hills, Colorado River, Fontana, Grand Terrace, Loma Linda, Morongo, San Bernardino, Twenty-Nine Palms, Twin Peaks, Upland, Yucaipa, Yucca Valley   
 
 
SUMMARY:
 
A second sex registrant operation was conducted between April 26 and May 18, 2019, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, and an affiliate of the Los Angeles Crimes Against Children Task Force (LAICAC), participated in Operation Broken Heart. Operation Broken Heart is held in conjunction with the United States Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Office and Delinquency Program (OJJDP) and all 61 of the nation’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task forces. Operation Broken Heart takes place in April and May, which targets those that exploit children.
 
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputies, California State Parole officers, and San Bernardino County Probation and Upland Police Department officers conducted several compliance checks in the cities, Barstow, Chino Hills, Colorado River, Fontana, Grand Terrace, Loma Linda, Morongo, San Bernardino, Twenty-Nine Palms, Twin Peaks, Upland, Yucaipa, Yucca Valley. The sex offender compliance operation included verifying the home addresses of each registered sex offender. The operation involved 55 deputies, four parole agents, and 12 probation officers who conducted a total of 700 compliance checks of registered sex offenders.
 
As a result of the multi-agency participation in Operation Broken Heart, it was found that two sex registrants were deceased, one was in custody, and 14 have moved from their last registered address. A total of 20 were arrested for various charges.
