Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a 40-year-old Sonoma woman after stabbing her boyfriend during a domestic altercation last night. The incident occurred at about 9:00 PM when sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 29000 block of Skaggs Island Road on a report of a stabbing. While deputies were en route they found the victim, a 37-year-old Sonoma man, being tended to by an ambulance crew from the Sonoma Valley Fire Department. The victim had been in the process of being transported by a relative to the hospital when the ambulance crew found them and started tending to his injury.
Deputies were able to determine that the victim’s girlfriend, 40-year-old Idalia Cortes-Acosta stabbed him once in the left arm after they had a domestic related argument. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to fully recover from his injury.
Deputies went to their home on Skaggs Island Road but the suspect had fled the area in the victim’s vehicle, a red 1998 Chevy Cavalier. Detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and processed the home for evidence. Detectives from the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Unit began an all-night search for the suspect and put out a BOL teletype to all nearby law enforcement agencies.
At about 6:00 AM the Napa Police Department called and advised they had located and detained Cortes-Acosta in the Chevy on Browns Valley Rd. in Napa. Deputies brought her back to Sonoma County for questioning and ultimately booked her for felony domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon. She is being held on $110,000 bail.
