MISSING PERSON: 11 YEAR OLD GARY M. - Call Police with Info

The San Leandro Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Gary M., an 11 year old San Leandro resident, who ran away from home early Thursday evening.

At 5:45PM, Gary’s family returned home to their residence in San Leandro and found that he had left home without permission.  After searching for him and being unable to find him, they called the police for assistance.

Since that time, officers have been checking for Gary in local businesses, parks, restaurants and stores, hoping to find him.  Police do not suspect foul play in this missing person's case.

“After several hours, we too have been unable to find Gary,” stated Lt. Robert McManus.  “We are asking for the public’s help, knowing that we have a better chance in finding him quicker with the extra assistance,” he said.

Gary is 4' 05" tall and weighs 60 pounds.  He was last seen wearing a blue puffy jacket, "#30 Curry" Golden State Warriors jersey, blue jeans and tan shoes.

Police ask that if you have any information as to Gary’s whereabouts, or if you see him, please call the San Leandro Police at (510) 577-2740, or your local law enforcement agency immediately.

Citizens play a critical role in creating a safe environment by observing and reporting any suspicious or criminal activity to the police.  The San Leandro Police Department recommends that citizens do not participate in any direct verbal or physical involvement with suspicious persons or those engaged in the commission of crimes. Personal safety of our community is paramount.  We encourage the San Leandro community to record the details of what they observe and to report those details to the police.  This type of community involvement and partnership has proven to be a very effective crime prevention tool.  Citizens act as the eyes and ears of the community first, and the extended eyes and ears of the San Leandro Police Department.  Thank you for being a force-multiplier in our efforts to provide professional police services and safety to the community.
