LOCATION: 13679 Manhasset Road, Apple Valley
8701 US Hwy 395, Hesperia
SUSPECT: Rodney Phelps, 53-year-old resident of Apple Valley.
VICTIM: 34-year-old male resident of Big Bear
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, June 6, 2019, the victim reported his 2017 black car hauling trailer stolen from the 13000 block of Manhasset Road in Apple Valley. Video surveillance from the location showed the trailer was stolen on Monday, June 3, 2019 at approximately 7:00 am. The trailer was taken by an older model Dodge pickup truck. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Rural Crime Task Force observed the trailer on June 6, 2019, prior to being reported stolen. When they attempted to relocate the trailer, it had been moved from the location.
On Thursday, June 13, 2019, Deputies Rob Oakleaf and Randy Stanley located the vehicle used to steal the trailer. Deputies contacted Rodney Phelps who led deputies to the location of the stolen tire. Phelps was arrested for Grand Theft of a Vehicle and booked at High Desert Detention Center. Later that night Deputy Ty James from the Apple Valley Police Department recovered the stolen trailer in Hesperia.
