Suffolk County Police today arrested a man after he stabbed a fellow landscaper in Holtsville this afternoon.

A landscaper was cutting grass at 7-Eleven, located at 984 Waverly Ave., when Jorge Sandoval, another landscaper with a past grudge against the man, exited his vehicle and stabbed him. The victim used his weed trimmer to fend off Sandoval and cut Sandoval’s arm in the process.

Sandoval returned to his vehicle and he and the driver attempted to flee. A co-worker of the victim jumped in front of the vehicle to try to stop them. The vehicle was going slowly and not stopping until Highway Patrol Officer Glen Ritchie arrived on the scene.

The victim was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Sandoval was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sixth Squad detectives charged Sandoval, 31, of Coram, with Assault 2nd Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on June 21.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
