A fatal traffic collision involving 4 vehicles occurred at Calimesa Boulevard and Wildwood Canyon on July 24th

INVOLVED PARTIES:
Driver 1: Edson Dela Torre, 30, Calimesa resident
Driver 2: Jaime Garcia, 52, Rialto resident
Driver 3: Olga Polasek, 63, Yucaipa resident
Driver 4: Kathleen Schleiden, 54, Yucaipa resident
SUMMARY: On July 24th at approximately 3:04 pm, deputies from the Yucaipa Police Department responded to a multiple vehicles involved traffic collision at Calimesa Boulevard and Wildwood Canyon. Through investigation, deputies determined that Driver 1 was driving a 2015 Dodge Charger east on Calimesa Blvd from Oak Glen Road. He crossed over into the westbound lane, into the path of a westbound 2015 Ram 4500 truck towing a 2015 PJ dump trailer, driven by driver 2. Driver 2 swerved right and avoided a head-on collision, but the Charger still side-swiped both the truck and trailer. The Charger glanced off the trailer and continued east into the path of a westbound 2017 Chrysler 300 driven by driver 3.
The Charger sideswiped the Chrysler 300, then continued east in the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a westbound 2004 Chevy Avalanche.
Driver 1 died from his injuries at the scene. Driver 2 was not injured. Driver 3 had a complaint of pain and was transported by ambulance. Driver 4 had major injuries and was transported by ambulance.
