Information Services Dept. is investigating numerous people receiving calls from the Apple Valley Police phone number

INCIDENT: Erroneous phone calls
LOCATION: 14931 Dale Evans Pkwy, Apple Valley
SUMMARY:
On August 8, 2019, between 12:20 pm and 1:28 pm, receptionists at the Apple Valley Police Department received several calls from people all over the United States advising they received a missed call from our station phone number of (760) 240-7400. None of the callers were contacted by a person and no voicemail was left. Our Information Systems Department has been notified and will be investigating this incident. Currently, we are asking the public not to call the station if you have a missed call from us. If we need to contact you, a message with the contact person’s name would be left for reference. Please remember, do not provide any personal information over the phone, unless you have initiated the phone call.
