A Safe Routes to School Grant allows deputies to increase school patrols in Needles

Date: January 8, 2020

Event: Safe Routes to School Grant – Increased School Patrols in Needles

Location: Vista Colorado Elementary School, Needles Middle School, Needles High School, Community Day School

Beginning January 8th, there will be an increased patrol presence in and around the schools in Needles as a result of a Safe Routes to School Grant received from the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health. The grant is a cooperative effort with the Department of Public Health, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, City of Needles and the Needles School District. The focus is to provide a safe environment for children going to and from school, enforce traffic laws near the schools, promote drug use prevention and work with school officials to address any security issues within the schools. The additional patrols will continue through the end of the school year.

These cooperative efforts are part of the Sheriff's Department commitment to ensuring a safe community for our children.
