Advisory

THEFTS FROM UNLOCKED VEHICLES

Moraga Police responded to numerous reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles that occurred in different neighborhoods during the past few nights.  Thieves are prowling neighborhoods and looking for crimes of opportunity.  Unfortunately, they found a great deal of opportunity in our Town.

This is not a new crime and they can be prevented!  Consider the following:

1.  Do not leave cars or your house unlocked at night or when unattended.
2.  Do not leave keys, wallets, gym bags, briefcases or other items of value...or items that a thief might think is valuable...in  your unattended car.  If you have to leave them in the car, secure them out of sight in the trunk.
3.  Garage door openers can provide easy access into your home for a thief...is it secure?
4.  Please check your security camera footage from the last two nights and report any suspicious activity to the Moraga Police.
5.  Report suspicious persons to the Moraga Police.  What is suspicious??  Do you see something out of the ordinary??  It probably is not a normal thing for someone to be casually strolling down your street at 1:00 am and checking car doors.

These crimes are easily prevented by simply locking up and safeguarding our belongings.  We are concerned that if Moraga is seen as an easy target, it will invite more crimes like this that target our residents.  Please help us to help you prevent crime in our Town.

Thank you.
