Last night around 10 p.m., 66 year old married William Lamar Griffin entered the Sports Cafe on Tara Blvd and approached a woman he had been involved with who was sitting with her cousin.   Griffin asked the woman to come outside so that they could talk.  Once outside a verbal dispute took place.  Griffin grabbed the female victim by her hair and began dragging her to his vehicle.  Griffin  pistol whipped the female in the head and shot her in the shoulder area of her body.  After shooting the victim, Griffin began striking her again with the pistol and then fled the scene in his vehicle.  The victim’s cousin came outside to check on her and observed the victim crawling on the ground for help.

Jonesboro PD arrived on the scene along with Sheriff’s Deputies and viewed video footage that identified Griffin and his violence.   When Sheriff’s Deputies went Griffin’s home to arrest him, his wife said that he had left earlier that day and she had no idea where he could be.

“Find him before the sun rises”

Those were the orders of the Sheriff when his elite Fugitive Squad was activated to begin the manhunt for Griffin.  The Fugitive Squad pick up Griffin’s  trail and tracked him to Gwinnett County where he wisely surrendered without a fight.  Griffin was captured by 3 a.m. today before the rise of the sun.

Griffin is now learning anger management while facing the wall at Georgia’s toughest para-military jail, now better known to all as “The Hill-ton”.
