Santa Rosa inmate dies while in custody at the Sonoma County jail.
Sonoma County Sheriff's Detectives are investigating the death of an inmate. The inmate was booked today by the Santa Rosa Police Department.
At 5:18 pm, the inmate had a medical emergency while in the booking area. Jail personnel began life-saving measures by performing CPR. An ambulance was called and transported the inmate to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Sheriff's Detectives have notified the Napa County Medical Examiner's Office, who will be handling the Coroner's duties, which will include an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The inmate's name will not be released until the next of kin is notified.
