The Moraga Police have been investigating the series of thefts from vehicles and associated crimes that have been occurring in some neighborhoods.  Thank you to those of you who sent clips of video recordings that showed people who were looking into and opening cars.
 
As a result of our investigation, we will be seeking criminal charges against Angelina Jaimes, 22, of Concord.  Investigators recognized Jaimes on some of the video recordings that were submitted.  Jaimes has been involved in other theft cases in the Lamorinda area.  Jaimes was arrested last week on related charges and has been connected to nearly 20 different thefts in Moraga over the last month and a half.  In one of these cases, the suspects used a garage door opener from a car to gain access to a garage and burglarize it. Officers continue to investigate the incidents and are working to identify other suspects who were involved in the thefts.
 
While an arrest has been made in these cases, thefts from unlocked vehicles are a common crime in Moraga that can be easily prevented.  Please ensure that your vehicles and residences are locked at night and when unattended.  Consider installing video surveillance and alarm systems to monitor your property.  Stay in contact with your neighbors and report suspicious persons and activity in your neighborhood.
