Five subjects were arrested in a Victorville apartment for firearm violations and child cruelty

DATE/TIME: February 26, 2020 / 5:35 am

INCIDENT: Willful Discharge of a Firearm with Gross Negligence, Child Cruelty, Felon in Possession of a Firearm

LOCATION: 14700 block of Seneca Road, Victorville

SUSPECT(S): Maulik Cady, 28-year old Victorville resident
Shalamar Ellison, 31-year old Victorville resident
Michael Brown, 38-year old Rancho Cucamonga resident
Alexandria Whitaker, 33-year old Adelanto resident
Indicia McWhorter, 26-year old Adelanto resident


SUMMARY: On February 26, 2020, Deputy T. Chamberlain was investigating a vehicle burglary when he heard gunfire erupt nearby, in the 14700 block of Seneca Road. Deputy Chamberlain observed a male subject on the second-floor patio of an apartment. The subject quickly went inside the apartment and turned off the interior lights.

Deputies responded to the apartment and contacted several subjects inside. The subjects refused to cooperate with the investigation. A search warrant was authored and granted for the apartment. During the service of the search warrant, deputies located a handgun hidden in the water tank of the master bedroom toilet. Also, in the master bedroom occupied by Shalamar Ellison, deputies found suspected cocaine on a platter under the bed, easily accessible to the three young children living in the home.

After a lengthy investigation, five subjects were arrested. Maulik Cady was arrested for willful discharge of a firearm with gross negligence. Shalamar Ellison was arrested for child cruelty and felon in possession of a firearm. Michael Brown, Indicia McWhorter, and Alexandria Whitaker were arrested for felon in possession of a firearm.
