Investigation leads to arrest of five.

On February 28, 2020, at 10:34 a.m. Deputies U.B. Smith and Brian Naas went to apartment 6E located at 108 S. Spring Street in Princeton to investigate a battery that had occurred at a local restaurant at a prior date. Upon arriving Deputy U.B. Smith detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the residence. At that point Deputy Smith requested back up and held a perimeter around the apartment until back up arrived. Once Deputy Jennifer Loesch, and Princeton Units Lt. J.D. Clark, Sgt. Bobby Wood, and Sgt. Jay Riley arrived Deputy Smith secured everyone in the apartment. It was at this time 23-year-old Dawnqua Shemwell of Princeton was located. Mr. Shemwell had an outstanding warrant for a Battery with Serious Bodily Injury charge through Gibson County. It was at that point Mr. Shemwell was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail.

Deputy U.B. Smith and Deputy Jennifer Loesch applied for a search warrant of the residence, and upon receiving a search warrant an investigation into the burnt marijuana smell was conducted.

At the conclusion of Deputy Smith’s investigation, the following people were taken into custody and charged with the following crimes.

Isiah Brown age 29 of Princeton: Dealing in Marijuana over 30 grams and Visiting a Common Nuisance. He has since posted a $750 bond.

Antony Davis age 28 of Princeton: Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Dealing in Marijuana over 30 grams, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of a Legend Drug, and Visiting a Common Nuisance. He is being held without bond.

Sereniti Osborne age 22 of Princeton: Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of a Legend Drug, Possession of a Scheduled Controlled Substance, Maintaning a Common Nuisance, and Assisting a Criminal. She remains in custody on a $750 bond.

Emily Pruitt-Joy age 19 of Chandler, Indiana: Visiting a Common Nuisance. She remains in custody on a $550 bond.

Dawnqua Shemwell age 23 of Princeton: Battery/ Serious Bodily Injury, Resisting Law Enforcement, Dealing Marijuana Greater than 30 grams, and Visiting a Common Nuisance. He remains in custody on a $3,150 bond.

Sgt. Bruce Vanoven and Indiana State Trooper Mike Finney also assisted in this investigation.
