DATE: February 27, 2020
INCIDENT: Cultivation of Marijuana, Utility Theft
LOCATION: Multiple locations within the City of Victorville
SUMMARY:
On February 27, 2020, deputies with the Victorville Police Department’s Gang Enforcement and Multiple Enforcement Teams conducted an operation to shut down illegal marijuana cultivations in residential neighborhoods in the city. During the one-day operation, deputies served eight search warrants making seven arrests for the cultivation of marijuana and utility theft.
Between the eight locations, over 6,700 marijuana plants were located along with two pounds of processed marijuana. In total, over 1.3 tons of contraband were seized and destroyed.
Six of the eight residences had altered utility service, bypassing the standard electrical supply methods in the homes. These illegal electrical bypasses have a high potential for fire, explosions, and electrical shock, posing a serious safety risk to those inside the homes and in the surrounding areas.
