DATE/TIME: March 10, 2020 / 6:38 am

INCIDENT: Evading a Peace Officer, Vehicle Theft, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Carrying a Loaded Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Vehicle Registration Fraud

LOCATION: Borego Road & Anacapa Road, Victorville

SUSPECT(S): Ceasar Campos, 24-year old Victorville resident

SUMMARY: On March 10, 2020, Deputy S. Lenihan, with the Victorville Police Department’s Traffic Division, was conducting traffic enforcement at the intersection of Borego Road and Anacapa Road when he observed a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit. Lenihan attempted a traffic stop on the 1997 Honda Civic. The driver failed to yield, and a short vehicle pursuit ensued.

The driver of the Honda, later identified as Ceasar Campos, pulled into a dirt alley off Bonanza Road and fled the vehicle on foot. Deputy Lenihan tracked Campos’ shoe tracks from the vehicle to a house on Cholame Road and to a trailer located at the back of the property. Campos was located inside the trailer and taken into custody. As Campos was being searched, suspected methamphetamine and a glass pipe were found in the waistband of his pants. A search of the Honda was conducted and inside a backpack in the car, a loaded firearm and multiple vehicle registration tags were recovered. As the deputy was conducting the vehicle search, Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call from the registered owner wanting to report his vehicle stolen.

Ceasar Campos, who was found to be out of custody after posting a $25,000 bond on a recent case, was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center. His charges include evading a Peace Officer, vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm during the commission of a felony, and vehicle registration fraud. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on March 12, 2020.
