FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Press Conference Announcement
Incident: Operation Fencing February
Location: Fremont Police Department, 2000 Stevenson Blvd. (see below for more information)
Date/Time: Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 3:30 p.m.
On Thursday, March 12, 2020, Fremont Police Chief Kimberly Petersen, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, Assemblymember Kansen Chu representing the 25th California Assembly District and Fremont Detectives will hold a press conference at 3:30 p.m. to discuss and share full details of multiple laptop fencing operations that were investigated and taken down during the last month and a half. The Fremont Police Department has spent a considerable amount of investigative hours working laptop fencing operations in an effort to drive down the demand that is fueling the high auto burglary rate in the Bay Area. These latest operations have led to the identification and arrest of multiple levels of criminal organizations buying and selling stolen laptops that are being shipped overseas. The latest operations have resulted in the recovery and seizure of over 2,000 electronic devices, hundreds of thousands of dollars in money and multiple high-end vehicles.
On display will be recently seized vehicles and hundreds of pieces of stolen property. Additional photos, mug shots and copies of current and past press releases will also be available at the conclusion of the event via a Dropbox link.
A full recording of the press conference will be available via our YouTube Channel following the event.
