Fairfield City Hall is open under local proclamation of emergency
Fairfield, California (Monday, March 16, 2020)—Today, the City of Fairfield announced that while their parks and recreation facilities and all associated programming has been shuttered through March 31, 2020, the balance of the City is open for business.
City Hall is operating usual business hours 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the exception of its regular closures on the first and third Fridays each month. However, the City asks that the public try to conduct as much business as possible by phone or online and only come in for essential matters that require in-person resolution.
At 2 p.m. today, Fairfield City Manager, Stefan Chatwin signed a proclamation of local emergency for the city of Fairfield in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). This proclamation provides additional legal authorization to take regulatory actions to address the emergency, allows for suspension of formal competitive bidding requirements to purchase necessary supplies, and facilitates reimbursement from the State and federal government for costs incurred in addressing the emergency.
A special meeting of the Fairfield City Council has been called for Wednesday, March 18, 2020, for the city manager’s actions to be ratified by the City Council.
The City will continue to provide updates on facilities and programs that are open to the public, and will continue to abide by State and County health department guidelines. For status changes to facilities, programs, or services visit www.fairfield.ca.gov
