Assault with a Deadly Weapon Arrest
A resident in the 2200 block of Trinway Avenue noticed a man who he did not know (later identified as Ian Oneill, 38, Simi Valley) inside his vehicle. Believing that Oneill was trying to steal his property, the resident confronted him. In response, Oneill brandished a knife and chased the resident while threatening to stab him. The resident then called 9-1-1 to get police help. When Oneill realized the police were on their way, he abandoned his chase of the car owner and fled the area. Responding officers located Oneill in the Sycamore Plaza a short distance away and took him into custody without incident. Oneill was booked into the Ventura County Jail for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Attempted Robbery.
The Simi Valley Police Department would like to remind residents to report criminal behavior to the police. Confronting suspects on your own can be dangerous.
