Governor’s Order: Stay Home Except For Essential Needs

Earlier this evening, Governor Newsom issued an Executive Order which states all California residents must “Stay Home Except For Essential Needs” until further notice. Residents may leave their residences to conduct personal business at the following locations:

• Gas Stations

• Pharmacies

• Food: Grocery Stores, farmers markets, food banks, convenience stores, take-out and delivery restaurants

• Banks

• Laundromats/laundry services

Essential state and local government functions will remain open, including offices that provide government programs and services.

We would like our residents to know that the Simi Valley Police Department and the Ventura County Fire Department will continue to respond to 9-1-1 emergency calls. The Police Department will be modifying how it responds to non-emergency calls for service in the near future. Details on non-emergency response will be released as changes are made to our response protocol.

In closing, the members of our Department support the steps that Governor Newsom is taking to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We encourage our residents to continue to follow precautionary measures to reduce potential exposures, such as adhering to social distance guidelines.
