Pursuit of attempted murder suspect 
On May 3, 2021, Deputies with the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office were advised by an Indiana State Police radio broadcast to watch for a blue Chevrolet Malibu west bound on I-70 occupied by a suspect involved in an attempted murder. At 2232 hours, a Vigo County Deputy observed the vehicle westbound at the 7 mile marker and began to follow it. The deputy activated his lights and siren and the vehicle continued westbound on I-70 refusing to stop. Stop sticks were successfully deployed by Indiana State Police units at the state line and the suspect vehicle continued westbound into Illinois at reduced speeds. At the 153 mile marker the vehicle went off the road and stopped in a ditch. A short time later, gunfire erupted from inside the suspect vehicle and shots were returned by responding units. The male inside of the vehicle was found deceased when responding units approached the vehicle.
This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Illinois State Police. More information will be released as the investigation allows.
