National Preparedness Month - Keep Your Family Safe with a Weather Radio!

Citizens,

As part of National Preparedness Month, I wanted to take just a few minutes to focus on the importance of having a NOAA Weather Alert radio in your home.

We all know that tornadoes and other severe weather often strike with little to no warning and history tells us that these events have a high likelihood of occurring at night while you and your family are sleeping. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that you will be awakened by thunder or high wind and have enough time to take action!

NOAA Weather Alert radios are inexpensive, easy to use, and they can make a huge difference to you and your family in the event of an unexpected storm. The alert feature activates the radio, usually accompanied by loud warning tones, whenever a severe weather alert is issued by the National Weather Service in your area, so constant monitoring is not required.

Having one beside your bed adds a major degree of safety and the peace of mind that you will have more time to react when a storm hits.

You can find multiple models with a wide array of features in most large retail outlets, at specialty stores such as Radio Shack, and online for as little as $19.99.

We hope that you will consider adding one of these tools to your home protection arsenal as soon as possible!
