...DEEP LOW PRESSURE IN THE GULF OF MAINE WILL RESULT IN WINDY CONDITIONS TODAY... .LOW WILL SLOWLY MOVE NORTH INTO THE ATLANTIC BY THIS EVENING. ...WIND ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EDT THIS EVENING... THE WIND ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EDT THIS EVENING. STRONG NORTHWESTERLY WINDS OF 20 TO 25 MPH WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND MAY GUST TO 45 MPH. WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO DIMINISH THIS EVENING. WINDS OF THESE MAGNITUDES AND FOR THIS DURATION COULD KNOCK DOWN WEAKENED TREES. RESIDENTS SHOULD BRING IN OR TIE DOWN ANY LOOSE OBJECTS INCLUDING HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS.
A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS OF 31 TO 39 MPH... OR GUSTS OF 46 TO 57 MPH...ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.
All North Castle residents should prepare for the possibility of power outages during this time period extending into the overnight.
Residents experienceing an interuption in electrical service should contact Con Edison Directly at 1-800 75CONED to report their outage. All effected residents should call Con Edison even if the outage was reported by their neighbor.
The North Castle Office of Emergency Management is monitoring this high wind event and may activate the EOC if required to deal with situations arising from it.
