Derry Twp PD joins “Aggressive Driving Enforcement” initiative occurring now through December 31st
Derry Township, PA - The Derry Township Police Department has announced its participation in the statewide 2010 Wave 4 “Aggressive Driving Enforcement” initiative occurring now through December 31st.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) defines aggressive driving as "the operation of a motor vehicle in a manner that endangers or is likely to endanger persons or property”. Examples include speeding or driving too fast for conditions, improper lane changing, tailgating and improper passing. Police will be conducting increased enforcement during this project and will be targeting aggressive drivers.
Pennsylvania law enforcement reminds travelers to keep their distance from aggressive drivers. Over 300 municipal police departments and the Pennsylvania State Police are keeping an eye out for aggressive driving behaviors. Any aggressive driver stopped by police will receive a ticket.
The aggressive driving enforcement is a part of the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project and is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Please visit www.DriveSafePA.org for more information.
