Case 2010-24328

At approximately 9:00 PM Tuesday night, Pinellas Park Police received a call of a reckless driver in the area of 62 Street and 110th Avenue North. When the officer arrived, he discovered an elderly female in the roadway bleeding. A Blue Saturn 4D was pulled off to the side of the road. The driver of the Saturn stated that the female victim had been clinging onto the hood of another vehicle that was speeding and weaving Northbound on 62nd Street. As the vehicle approached the intersection of 110th Avenue, the driver slammed on the brakes causing the female to slide off the front. The driver of the Blue Saturn was Southbound on 62 Street approaching the reckless vehicle just as the victim was slung off the hood. The victim slid into the path of the oncoming Saturn, which struck her. The reckless driver fled the scene. The victim was taken to Bayfront Hospital in critical condition with head injuries.

Police are looking for a late 90’s Nissan Ultima or Maxima, gold in color, with a loud muffler. The vehicle will have front end damage and missing a windshield wiper. The vehicle was occupied by two males.

This incident began at an address close to the crash scene. The Pinellas County Sheriffs Office responded to 6105 106 Avenue North, a mobile home, reference some type of disturbance about the same time PPPD was responding to the reckless driver complaint. When PCSO arrived witnesses said that the mobile home owner had climbed onto the Gold Nissan car’s hood as it was leaving the property. The driver of the gold car began driving erratically through the neighborhood, apparently trying to eject the woman off the front of his car. The driver ran over several road signs, weaving back and forth along 106th avenue and 62nd Street, according to witnesses, before slamming on the brakes just before 110th Avenue. The victim apparently was hanging on by the windshield wiper as it was ripped off the car and found in the roadway near the victim.

The victim is identified as Jeri O’Quinn, W/F, DOB/02-07-1943, Pinellas Park, FL. Ms. O’Quinn had been active as a volunteer for the Pinellas Park Police Department for several years.

Police request that if anyone has any information about the whereabouts of the gold automobile and the identity or location of the two occupants to please contact the Pinellas Park Police at 727-541-0758.

UPDATE

On Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at approximately 1:30 PM, Detectives made an arrest in this case at 6922 17th Way N in St. Petersburg. Arrested is Admir Mrakovic (dob/10-6-1985). He is the owner and driver of the suspect vehicle. Admir told investigators that he went to the 6105 106 Avenue mobile home to get his wallet. Admir had stayed in this residence with his girlfriend Amanda Anderson until Amanda was evicted on September 9th by the owner Jeri O’Quinn. Admir says he went in, got his wallet, and was trying to leave when he was confronted by Mrs. O’Quinn. Admir said Mrs. O’Quinn accused him of trying to steal from her and then she tried to attack him with a knife. Admir stated he tried to flee the scene in his car but Mrs. O’Quinn jumped flat onto the hood. Admir did not offer any more explanation after that.

Detectives impounded a gold 1996 Nissan from the arrest location. The car had front end damage and was missing the windshield wiper. Admir Mrakovic will be charged with Attempted Murder and Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Injury.
