The City of Rochester experienced a large water main break this morning. The east side of Rochester is fed from the City of Detroit via Shelby Township the west side is still on a well and water tower system. The break occurred on the well system side, and has no chance of contaminating the Detroit water system or any of Shelby Township’s mains. A boil water alert has gone out over the radio and television announcing an alert for the 24 mile and Dequindre area; this does not include any part of Shelby Township or our water system.
