CITY OF ELIZABETH HELPS
LOWER THE COST OF ENERGY BILLS
ELIZABETH, NJ, October 29, 2010—Mayor J. Christian Bollwage announced the creation of a loan program to help Elizabeth home owners increase their energy efficiency while lowering the costs of their utility bills. Under this innovative new program, home owners will have the opportunity to borrow up to $10,000 at interest rates ranging from .5% to 2.5%. In addition, the loans can be spread out for as long as ten years.
With help from this program, property owners will see an immediate reduction of their energy bills and can:
• Weatherize and seal their house so that it’s cool in the summertime and warm in the winter.
• Leverage government rebates and incentives to replace all of the windows or doors in their house.
• Upgrade all of the lights and lighting fixtures in their house to make them more efficient and to reduce energy usage.
• Install a tankless water heater or other new or innovative and efficient heating, ventilation or air conditioning unit.
• Take advantage of these extraordinarily favorable loan terms.
The City of Elizabeth is holding an information session open to all city property owners on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
Residents who attend the information session will also be entered for a chance to win one of two $100 Home Depot Gift Certificates.
