We have recently seen a rise in distraction type burglaries in the North Hollywood area. The suspects usually target elderly persons at their homes. They are approaching the victims claiming to be DWP workers or workers from another city/county service. They advise the victim they need to inspect something in the house or backyard. While they are distracing the victim a second suspect enters the home and steals the victim's property. The suspects were driving a black vehicle.

Be aware of activity in your area and look out for your elderly neighbors. Share with them this information.If you see someone possibly involved in this crime, call LAPD dispatch at 877-ASK-LAPD.
