Beginning Thursday December 2, 2010 and continuing until Sunday December 26, 2010, the Thurmont Police Department will be participating in a nationwide impaired driving initiative over the Christmas holiday titled, “Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest.” Officers will be targeting drivers who exhibit signs of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The goal of the initiative is to educate, deter, and identify operators of vehicles who are found to be driving under the influence. Incidents of impaired driving significantly increase during the Christmas holiday, and it is the Thurmont Police Department’s goal to curtail this behavior.
