Female Temple City kidnap victim rescued by San Dimas Sheriff's Deputies in Covina. Armed female gang member arrested

A 22-year old Temple City woman was rescued by San Dimas sheriff's deputies in Covina after her boyfriend reported she had been kidnapped and held at gunpoint by a 38-year old female gang member from El Monte.

The kidnapping was originally reported to San Dimas Sheriff's Station deputies on Tuesday (11/30/10) morning at about 3:00AM. At the request of the caller, deputies responded to a convenience store on the 16000 block of Tudor Street in unincorporated Covina. When they arrived, an 18-year old Temple City man told deputies that his girlfriend was being held against her will by a female armed with a handgun. He then directed deputies to a nearby residence on the 16600 block of Tudor St., where she was being held.

The deputies went to the residence and detained the occupants. During their investigation, deputies recovered a handgun from inside the residence.

The female victim told deputies she went to the location to see a resident, and was confronted by the female suspect, her former neighbor, who was armed with a handgun. She was then held against her will for over five hours, during which time one or both of the victims lives were threatened. The suspect is alleged to have threatened the victim in order to try to get her to sign over the ownership of her car.

"This could have ended badly, especially for the female victim. Fortunately, the two victims were not physically injured during this incident." said Sergeant Joe McDonald.

38 year-old Suspect Lori M. Madrid is a female Hispanic resident of El Monte, and is a gang member.

The suspect was booked at San Dimas Sheriff’s Station for Kidnapping (207(a) CA Penal Code) with a bail of $100,000.00; Attempted Robbery (211 CA Penal Code) with a bail of $100,000.00, Possession of a Loaded Firearm (12020(a) CA Penal Code) with a bail of $20,000.00; Active Gang Member in Possession of a Loaded Firearm (12031(c) CA Penal Code) with a bail of $35,000.00; Possession of an Unregistered Handgun-12031(f) CA Penal Code with a bail of $20,000.00 and the gang enhancement charge– 186.22(a) CA Penal Code. The first charge is the holding bail amount of $100,000.00

The case is being investigated by detectives with the San Dimas Sheriff's Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
