Advisory

Update on larceny from vehicle investigation in Columbia Township.

In a continuing investigation of a larceny from a vehicle that occurred on September 1, 2010 at the Ocean Beach Rd. county park, the Columbia Township Police Department reports that a suspect has been identified and charged with the crime.

In the original larceny from the auto, items taken included the victim’s purse, which contained, among other things, credit and debit cards. The investigation revealed the suspect was using one of the stolen credit cards at a Meijer store. The video of these transactions was obtained, and previously reported to the public.

Working in conjunction with other local law enforcement agencies, including the Jackson Police Department, a suspect was developed. The suspect, identified as Jennifer Lynne Reichard, 34 of Lenawee County, was interviewed by Sgt. Jay Niles on November 3, 2010.

The report was then completed and was reviewed by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office. On Tuesday, November 30, 2010, a warrant was issued for breaking and entering a vehicle causing damage, and financial transaction device fraud.

On Monday, December 6, 2010, Jennifer Lynne Reichard turned herself in to the court, and she has since been arraigned on the charges and was released on bond pending future court dates.

The investigation continues, with the possibility of additional charges and additional suspects.
