Suspect arrested for Attempted Armed Robbery; Second suspect suffered gunshot wound and transported to area hospital.
On Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at approximately 10:24 p.m., a Cypress Police Officer stopped a white Ford Ranger pick-up for a vehicle code violation. The officer made contact with the driver and discovered he had suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Paramedics responded to the location of the vehicle stop and treated the subject.
At the same time, dispatch received a call from a male subject who reported he was just involved in a shooting and provided police with the description of the pick-up truck.
A preliminary investigation revealed the subject (who was subsequently shot) accompanied the female suspect to a business on Watson Street. The female made a prior arrangement with the victim for sexual services. It was later learned that the female went to the location with her boyfriend with the intent to rob the victim. A confrontation occurred between the boyfriend and the victim. The victim saw the suspect/boyfriend in possession of a handgun. The victim responded by using a firearm that was in the business and fired a single gunshot, striking the suspect in the abdomen.
The female suspect, Megan Wachi, admitted to going to the location, accompanied by her boyfriend, with the intent of robbing the victim. She was subsequently arrested for robbery and booked at the Cypress City Jail. As of this morning, the boyfriend (Michael Diaz) was in surgery; however, his injuries are listed as non-life threatening. Both weapons in this incident were located. Detectives are continuing their investigation into this matter. Any witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, are asked to call Detective Carrillo, at (714)229-6635.
